Iam getting a strange error that says
"ORA-01041 internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist"
Does anyone have some idea on this. The documentation says that I have to contact Oracle customer support. I got this message when I was running Oracle expert to gather statistics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this most often when either Oracle has crashed or there has been a poorly timed network hit that causes the connection to either get dropped or be scrammed. (Is there a good time for a network hit?)

Reboot the work station and try to reconnect. It usually works for me.
