    Question

    I failed to import an 8.1.6 (Personal Edition W98) export into a 8.1.5 instance running on W2000Server.
    The 8.1.5 import utility complains it could not verify the header of the export file. Any idea how to solve this?

    By the way, I tried already the catexp7.sql script on 8.1.6 in order to generate a Oracle 7-compliant export which should be importable by all 8-versions. However, I receive the same import error message as described above. The file header still says "8.01.06F".

    EXPORT;
    When exporting from a newer version to an older version log into the box with the older version of Oracle. This way you are using that boxes (older) executable. Put the parfile on that box as well and verify the dir's.

    You need to user the older versions .EXE for this. This is what I did in the past using parfiles on Unix.

    The command will be
    EXP MYID@target_sid parfile=yo_mama.par
    When exporting P028 to D069 log into D069 and use.
    exp MYID@p028 parfile=exp_blah_blah.par

    Hope this helps

    I remember when this place was cool.
