    hello
    i am not able to import from the user's dmp while it is working fine for table export, the following error occuring, please suggest how to overcome these :-
    Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.6.1.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
    Export file created by EXPORT:V08.01.06 via direct path
    import done in US7ASCII character set and US7ASCII NCHAR character set
    IMP-00051: Direct path exported dump file contains illegal column length
    IMP-00008: unrecognized statement in the export file

    HERE I MUST CLEAR THAT WHEN A TABLE IS EXPORT AND THEM IMPORTED IT WORKS FINE ( OS IS LINUX RED HAT)
    PLEASE SUGGEST;

    Both of these errors are pointing to either a "failed import" or a corrupt export file. How long would it take you to re-do the export?

    try :
    1) to export again, using direct path, and with option RECORDLENGTH 64000
    2) to export again, without using direct path
