I've just passed the 9i upgrade (1Z0-030) with 49/56.
The exam is tricky but not very difficult. They do check for syntax and I was surprised to see how superfluos the questions on RMAN and RAC were.
I did use only the ILTs to prepare. I did run every new command and used almost every new init.ora parameter. This makes you confident.
The total time I spent on test preparation is about 200 hours including reading and playing with 9i.

Fantastic!!!!
Does this mean I can uncross my fingers and toes now? They feel a little numb :-)
Well done mate. You put in the hours and you got the result!
Perhaps you'll be able to spend some time with your wife now!

:-) Thanks a lot Tim for all the support, last weekend I read all your 9i articles at
http://www.oracle-base.com/Articles/...Features9i.asp
I would suggest to anyone who hasn't got the ILTs to use your site for the 9i upgrade.

Julian, you really must set up a crappy signature now. Something like:
OCP DBA 8i, 9i, 50M Swimming Certificate!

Congratulations!
What's next?

OCP DBA 8i, 9i, 10g

:-))))
BTW, now the Oracle Examination Score Report is slightly different. You don't have anymore the sections. All you get below your passing score, etc. is the subareas where you answered wrong. In my case I got 7 lines, each corresponding to a question I got wrong. Thus, you guess at once which questions you got wrong.
Only the ILT slides are not enough, many the questions were part of the bottom part of every ILT page, i.e., you may find the answer to the questions uder some short Note given under the slide.

Thanks!
Forms is next. I have read Christopher Allen's book once and I will go to the test after I go once more through the book. I use to do Forms in my previous job, so I don't worry much about the exam, but on the other hand those tricky questions they ask you :-) ....
