ORA-03113:end-of-file on communication

Dear Oracle Expert!!

I have installed Oracle8i(8.1.7) on solaris(Intel)8.During the database configration process, the error message has apeared on the screen says Oracle is not connected . So, I just igonred it and kept trying to insatll it.

After I completed the installation, I was trying to startup database : $SVRMGRL -> connect internal -> startup . However, it keep giving me the error message: ORA-03113:end-of-file on communication.(?????). Sould I recreate the database? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

This could be on number of issues. If you have the metalik support please check and there is an article on this problem and how to trouble shoot it. If not, please let me know of your email and I might be able to send you the attachement file to you.
