    Question

I just installed the new 9i server using OUI on a win2K box, and everything is fine. I haven't explicitly set up password file using orapwd, and I noticed the remote_login_passwordfile has been set to EXCLUSIVE in the init.ora which means I am using Password file authentication now. So does that mean the password file has been set up already?

I did a search on all Oracle directories, but can't find any .pwd file. So I am using the password file authentication w/o the file being created?

When you create an instance the password file get created under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapwSID. Oracle would be using that as your password file in your case.

You can find the password file under oracle_home\database.

I found the password file in my %oracle_home%Ora901/database directory. What's interesting is that they are not .pwd file anymore, instead, they are .ora files.

I guess that's why I couldn't find them using search of .pwd file in my oracle directory.

    Thanks for your help!
