hi guys,
lets say, i got the backup controlfiles, datafiles, all archived logs up to the time of failure and the lastest online redo logs. I can't bring up the instance again to archive the online redo logs. so, how do i recover the database including the transactions in the online redo files?
thxthx

well..for a start online redo log will be automatically used for recovery when u start the instance.

in my case, the instance is going to startup by a backup copy which requires to roll forward till the point of failure. is that means i just need to put the online redo log and alter database open once the roll forward process is done?
thxthx

1. Restore the datafiles.
2. Startup Mount.
3. Recover database untill cancel.
4. It will ask you for the archived redo log files.
5. Enter the location of the archived redo files.
6. the entries from the online redo log files will be applied too if available.
7. If its complete recovery you can open your database, otherwise in case of incomplete recovery you will have to use resetlogs option.
(I assume that you have a copy of current control file)
