    Dear friends,
    I require an urgent solution for this, please.

    I want the oracle to listen only from single port from clients.

    My listener file contains this;
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = upgsol4)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC))
    )
    )
    )

    I am considering that this upgsol4 host will listen only thru 1521 port,
    am i right in this regard.

    My network people are saying that they have taken some report and oracle is
    listening from other port also, and this port is getting changed for every
    startup of oracle. Now our people are planning to put a firewall against this
    server and they want to enable only those ports. when they tried to enable
    only 1521 port at firewall, they couldn't able to communicate to server.

    So friends please help in this regard. can we specify any where else saying that
    listen only to this port. This is an urgent. My manager is saying that it may be
    possible thru MTS or connection manager, does they relate to this problem.

    In this site how to participate in online discussion.

    Thanks is advance.

    Yes, looks like your MTS had been turned on. If you turn the MTS on then every time you stop and start the listeners a new set of ports will be allocated dynamically. If you use just the dedicated connection, then the port that you assigned get used.

    Now comming to answer the question of online chat, this site does not have one. So as a result, we encourage you to post your questions on the appropriate forums and we will try our best to better answer your questions as early as possible.
