Thread: oracle(8.17) on solaris8 (intel)

    Question

    Hello!
    During the installation,I keep getting error says"There is not enough space on the volume you have specified to copy the started Database file"on the database file location screen. I set (/ora )which is the orcle home dir as the datafile location on datafile location screen, and it keep showing me above error message.Please help me!!

    Hi,

    In which platform you are installing.
    are u installing 8.1.7 can u brief how u have gone about installing so that it is easy for me to guide you where did you went wrong.

    yes, I am installing 8.17 on Solaris8(intel verson). After I set up all the environment for pre-installation, I put the cd and run installer.. follow each screen until reach datafile location screen. When I set /ora which is my oracle Home Dir as the databasefile location, it keep giving me error says "There is not enough space on the volum you have specified to copy the started database files". (my swap space is 600mb and 12 GB Hard drive.)

    what's the space left on your filesystem ???
