Why's that?

I got 15% raise.
How did your salary compare to others with your company before the raise? Most times you only see this kind of raise when the company you work for is trying to bring your salary up to be compatible with other employees.

got a 10% pay cut but loving it. I'll tell you why:
1) at least I still have a job that helps pay all the bills.
2) From being a stressed-out, overworked, under-appreciated, oft-misunderstood insurance claims adjuster who got his brain fried by constant harrassment from $$-hungry lawyers, I am now in charge of the whole company servers & databases, reporting to no one but the company's CEO. (and may be occasionally some mindless developers). That is not to say that my new job is any less stressful, mind you.
3) get to be a member of this wonderful, supportive community where I can really learn & grow, not to mention the comfort of knowing that help is only a few keystrokes away.
That's why I am so darn happy.

I've had a 22% increase over the last 12 Months, mind you, I still believe I'm not paid what the industry market is. The best way to find your real worth is to apply for other positions. You'll soon find out if what your asking for is reasonable or not.

I do not know. It is not common to disccuss salary matters here. I don't give a damn what the rest get as far as I am satisfied with my salary.

Could be. Or when you are the only one who could do things no one else in the company can do and the company is afraid you might change jobs :-)

Keep track of your accomplishments and be prepared to negotiate for much more when the economy turns around.
You can ask for a raise any time and your employer risks losing you if you feel perpetually underpaid.
DBAs are being laid off. Now seems like a bad time for bare knuckled negotiations.
Good luck.
