    Question

    Hi friends & gurus:

I am in the process of building a new box that will run exclusively on Linux, and will be installing Oracle 8.17 or 9i in this box. I remember reading one of the postings about problem installing Oracle on Red Hat 7.0. Is it true? how about newer and/or older version of Red Hat, i.e 6.2? I also have a copy of Mandrake 7.1 Linux. My question is does it make a difference which flavor of Linux is installed, be it Red Hat, Mandrake, or Slackware? Also, what loophole should I look for when installing Oracle? better yet, if any of you know of where I can get instruction as to how to install Oracle on Linux?

As always, thanks in advance for all the help. You all have save my bacon on more than one occasions.

    John

    Hi,

I have oracle 9i installed on RH7.2 . Installed nicely on my box. The only thing I have to do is to downgrade my binutils to version that come with RH7.0.

Here the link to documentation that help my installation of oracle 9i:
