Thread: Oracle user

    Hi all,
    I am new to Oracle and have a simple question that i hope someone have time to answer.
    If i install Oracle 8 unde HP-UX as user oracle and want to bring up the database as a different user with different home directory. What do i have to do to be able to start the database?
    My guess:
    Add the user to the group dba, login as the the user and export the HOME variable to be the same as for the user oracle, export the ORACLE_SID name to the right name. Do i need to set up the user to have the same userid as the user oracle.

    Just add the user to the dba group, define the environment variables
