why can't the datafile(s) for temp tablespace in 9i be queried from v$datafile view? and it is moved to dba_temp_files. Is there any new meaning of doing this?

    Please explain,

because it's a temporary file, not considered a datafile anymore, if you lose it there is no need to recover, just recreate the tablespace

8i -- You can have a locally managed temporary tempfile (not datafile) which can only be seen
    in v$tempfile or dba_temp_file.
This file is by default and cannot be changed with nologging feature and hence is not required
    to be backed up.
RMAN and other customized scripts , mostly query v$datafile to get the list of datafiles to backup
and hence oracle shifted tempfile listing under seperate dictionary view.

    Same for 9i

8i --You can still have dictionary managed temporary tablespace and which can be seen under
    v$datafile .
    Not possible under 9i.
