Ratios are all fine and dandy but at the end of the day it is what your database is waiting on which is more important. If i had the link to the doco which discusses the idea more i would post it.
To the poster who had problems with poor SQL and full table scans get the database onto a higher version and test the idea of using materialised views/ query rewrites if necessary to force thru changes to those queries.
Looking at ratios before tuning SQL and waits is looking at the wrong picture, only when most if not all SQL is tuned to run as fast and as efficent as possible and any contention/waits are solved will the ratios truly reflect the database.
