Question Linux and Oracle management Server?

How can we use OMS for Oracle on Linux ?
Well I hope it must be possible to administer Oracle on Linux with OMS on NT/2K.

    Similar to other Unix.

You can create the OEM repository where you want and in the linux server you must have running the Oracle Agent service and in the server where you have the repository you must have the Oracle Management service running.

    hope this helps

    Hi,

For starting Oracle Agent: lsnrctl dbsnmp_start.

More information about OEM in the Oracle Documentation.

    Regards

    Hi Shruti,

Yes there are more things to do (first install OEM, create repository, start Oracle Agent service and Oracle Management service ...)

You should check the documentation :-)
Nothing is easy the first time but that's funny.

    Regards

Use emca ( Enterprise Manager Configuration Assistant) Here you can either choose to use the existing repository or create a new one. Remeber you don't have to have multiple repositories to maintain multiple databases/instances.

To start the Management server on linux

    oemctrl start oms
    oemctrl stop oms
    oemctrl status oms

To start the intelligent agent ( Should be ran on every db server that needs to be discovered)

    lsnrctl dbsnmp_start
    lsnrctl dbsnmp_stop

To start the data gatherer ( Should be ran on every server on which the events to be set against)

    vppcntl -start
    vppcntl -stop
    vppcntl -status

    Hope these would help you.
