    Hi everybody
I've the following problem trying installin oracle 8.1.7 personal edition on my pc.
The installer starts successfully I choose my oracle home and the source of the products.jar file but when i click next button during the preparation of the installation i receive a strange error which says that in the cd device there is nothing to install Oracle in a system with a windows os major than 95!!
Why? what does it mean? what can i do? The installation cd is for windows 98 so i can not understand..... Is it a bug?
    Please can anyone help me?

I think the source should point to a file name stage...

There are some known issues of Installer mall functioning on the Pentium 4. To solution is to copy the files from the CD to a temp directory and then run it from there, I think...

    Thanks sambavan,
but the problem you mean are related to the JVM and I've adopted the work-around suggested by Oracle and infact now I've non problem with the JVM and the OUI start successfully.
Hoewer I've trid to install Oracle 8.1.7 from the hard disk too but during the preinstallation step i receive the same error... a strange error!!!
    SOBBBBB!

    I'm waiting for other suggestions.
    THANKS
