    Orace Server-8.1.6
    OS - NT

I created Enterprise Manager Repository on the Database available on my Local PC. I created Node for the Prod. Database which is on different server. Now I am trying to connect to PROD database from Enterprise manager console on my local machine, it gives error, when I try to connect as internal:
    ORA-01031 Insufficient Privileges
    I can connect using SYSTEM/MANAGER.

    Also, I can't connect INTERNAL using SQL+.
TNS is set up alright as I can connect as SYSTEM using SQL+.

FYI, in init.ora I have following entry,

    remote_login_passwordfile = shared

I don't know if it is of any use.

    1. Do you have the intelligent agent running on that node?
    2. connect internal would not work with the sqlplus, instead tyr
    sqlplus sys/passwd as sysdba

    Hope this would help you.

    Sambavan,

First of all Thanks. Please educate me on couple of question to get my fundamentals right.

On my Database Server (PROD), at the time of DB creation, first I created instance using ORADIM command and with it I specified parameter -intpwd chucknew. Thought chucknew will be my internal password, and it is working fine when I connect to the database using server manager on server itself. I can start/shutdown database using this password. But my sys user password is still change_on_install.

Ques. Is Internal user password is not the password for sys user also?

Ques. What is difference between Internal user and Sys user?

Ques. Why I need Intelligent Agent running on the node.

    Thanks.
