Make sure that your hardware is sufficient. You’ll need at least 128 Mb RAM, a CD ROM drive, a swap space of at least 400 Mb or twice RAM (whichever is larger), and a bare minimum of 1300 Mb of disk space. This will let you perform a “typical” software installation and create a simple database for prototyping. A real implementation will almost always require more RAM and more disk space. The following commands will allow you to check RAM and swap space:
    /usr/sbin/prtconf | grep size
    swap -l

Check your /etc/system configurations, and comfirm that the shared memory parameters are configured correctly. Also remember if you make any changes to this file you have to reboot your system, to get the changes take effect...

    Sun Solaris

    I'm confused, what version of Solaris are you running? Oracle 8i (8.1.5, 8,1,6 & 8.1.7) are certified on Solaris v 2.6, v2.7 & 2.8.

    Hi,
Could you please try setting the following O.S. parameters in the system file in /etc directory ?....The parameter should be more or less the same as given below:

    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=250
    set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=10
    set semsys:seminfo_semmns=2048
    set semsys:seminfo_semmni=200
    set semsys:seminfo_semmnu=100

Please reboot the machine after the change and then try repeating the steps.

    Hope this will help you.
