    Hi friends,

    Is it possible to install oracle 8i on solaris X86 system? if not,what is the alternative on that machine ?

    yes, you have to buy Oracle 8i for Solaris Intel from Oracle Store

    hello

    As an alternative if you are not running oracle application .have a look at Linux on intel and run oracle 8i on it.linux is free ;-)

    Yes you can, but Oracle is not coming out with 9i db for Solaris Intel. Oracle 817 is the last version. It will be de-supported in the near future.

    In that case you got no choice pal stick to linux...or else shell out $$$$ and go to microsoft
