    I just realized that my control files are growing.
    What causes the control file to grow in size?

    Control file keeps growing all the time, info is added in the control file at every log switch, backup attempt, change in database (addition/deletion of files/tablespaces) and many other times as well.

    Or if you use RMAN, etc.. (However, you can control the growth of the RMAN information in the control file via init.ora)
