upgrade database 8.1.5 to 8.1.7.2.1

Here is the situations:

UNIX: Compaq Tru64
Current Version: 8.1.5.0.0

We have an 8.1.7.2.1 server installed. I created an 8.1.5.0.0 database (just like our PROD) and now need to upgrade the database to 8.1.7.2.1.

My question:

If I run the manual upgrade script: /oracle/product/8.1.7/rdbms/admin/u0801050.sql (to upgrade from 8.1.5.x.x) - this script WILL upgrade the database to the latest version of the 8.1.7.2.1 servers ??? And not just to 8.1.7.0.0 ???

I do not need to run any of the scripts manually, right ???
....except things like catrep.sql, etc.

Use the Oracle data migration assistant (odma) from the new install to detect the instances from the old install and migrate them. It will take care of running all the necessary scripts to migrate your database from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7.x. Also remember to follow the readme for the patchsets and run the appropriate scripts too.

BUT, what I want to know is what happens when the upgrade script is run ???

It would recreate the catalog and make the appropriate changes to the existing schema...

You can also view on what it exactly does by opening the script on some text editor...

less $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/...
