    Does the length of primary key matters ? what are the problems if we have primary key of so many characters.

    i do not see any problem as long as it is unique

    No It doesn't mater.. but it can be a little impractical. But it does depend on your data. I had a primary key of Varchar2(40). Because the unique key was made up of a combination on unix parameters that were generated and that is what the users wanted to be able to search on.
