Thread: starting oracle database from svrmgr

    i have oracle financial 11i and i'd like to start my database from the svrmgr mode , i stop the database from control pannel , then i try to start my data in nomount mode from svrmgr prompt put it doesn't accept , can any one help why?

    Maybe the instance was not stopped successfully
    due to a process that is still active in your instance.

    If you have stop oracle instance service from control
    panel and still you can't start with startup nomount option
    you need to shutdown abort the instance(just make sure
    no important and long process was active).

    Try to see Task Manager, and end task if there is still
    oracle instance active.

    start db again and hope that your system
    can have instance recovery.

    If you shut down your oracle service from the control panel. you will need to start that service again before you can bring the database instance back up. Starting the service does not "startup" the database, though the service must be started before you can log onto svrmgrl/sqlplus/OEM/etc and issue the startup command.
