I am running ORADIM from Oracle 8.1.6

    .
It is run as a part of an application install which calls:
ORADIM -NEW -SID -USRPWD -STARTMODE AUTO -PFILE
from within a DOS batch file. ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID and PATH are set appropriately. The command creates the sevice and starts the database, I can login to the database with anyther DOS screen but the command does not return.

When I try to shutdown the service it does not return and if I try to shutdown the service I get an error saying overlapping operations and a DIM-00018 message.

I can't delete the service but this just disables it until I shutdown again. The service continues to have a "starting" status in services.

This may be on W2K platform.

Go to services and restart the services you have created.

select the service and right click then you have options there.

also check the logs created and deposited under Oracle$\database\oradim.log file for the errors.
