IS both your databases 8i and 9i on the same server. On that case use oracle data migration assistant. Otherwise use export and import (personally I would prefer this)...

    oracle 8i and oracle9i

    thanks sam,

but they r not on same server as both the requirement for 8i and 9i r different.

    8i need glibc 2.2 kernel-2.1.4
    9i need glibc 2.2 kernerl -2.2.2

but exp and import such a huge database would take a lot of time.

Do a Full export of 8i and then import it into 9i. You could also look into that of using oracle migration work bench.
