    In a nutshell, can any one explain why is it that large db_block_size is not good for OLTP systems

    Normally the OLTP does small chunks of inserts and updates. So say for example you have an OLTP that would use 2K chunks of data block and now if you go and allocate 8K block size, for every 2K size of call oracle would allocate 8K block as a result you would be wasting 6K of your block size.
