    Hi Friends..

During an Oracle8i course I attended, ckpoints were discussed. The instructor pointed out that a checkpoint does NOT occur when there is a log switch. I have read in countless manuals and documetation that a checkpoint DOES occur at every log switch.

Can one of you experts please clear up who is right ?

    Thanks

    Suresh

Checkpoint does occur at each log switch. It can occur more frequently if configured.

It was B&R taken about 6 weeks ago... Oracle University.

I pointed out that it was in all of the documentation but he said that the documentation was wrong. I couldn't understand it either...

    Thanks for clearing up folks.
