    Question

    hi everybody,
i have upgraded my box to windows 2000 server and i have installed oracle 8.1.7, but i am having problems with them.

when i complete installation of oracle (without restarting the box) i can work well. but after restart, if i test the connection (net8 assistant) i receive this message: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available.

does anybody know what's going on? what should i do in order to fix this?

    thx,
    paulojr

There are two ways for you to fix this problem

    1. if you want to startup your database automatically when windows startup, you need to delete the service and recreate it to auto start.

    2. second option is set your Oracle environment, startup your database manually at SVRMGRL

I don't think you have to delete the service; can't you just set the Startup Type to 'Automatic' (Control Panel-->Administrative Services-->Services)?
