    Hi all,
What is the difference between a database clone and a database refresh?
Could anybody point me to some urls, white papers etc that discuss these
    topics?

    Thanks,
    audere

a refresh normally means recovering the data from saved datafiles.

a clone is a copy of a whole environment.
there's lots of stuff on metalink on this subject. do a searh on clone

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. What prompted my question is that in the course of looking through previous entries on this site there are many instances when cloning and refreshing are stated as being one and the same. What I'm looking for is the difference between the two. I've come across cloning before but haven't been able to find similar papers on a database refresh.

You say a refresh means copying saved datafiles. Is this the extent of a refresh - do you know of any docs citing examples of this as opposed to cloning? Does import/export fall under the banner of a refresh?

    Thanks again,
    audere
