we have 2 listeners in one Nt environment. I wanted to permenantly remove the bad listener. I have disabled it but somehow based on my dba, it tends to self activate over. What would i have to do to permenantly rmove the bad listener??>? remove the entries from registries? If yes then which settings?

    thanks

Edit your listener.ora and remove the bad listener you speak of.

    $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin

    Thumbs up

    Hi There,
Here are some easy steps to remove a bad Listener :

1.edit the Listener.ora file from ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory and comment or delete the bad Listener description.
2.click START button goto settings > control panel > services.
this will open a window which shows all the services , now higlight the Listener service which corresponds to the bad listener, click the STARTUP button and check the disable option.

That's it if u want to permanently remove this service u will have to delete it from registry by serching it in HK_LOCAL_MACHINE>system>currentcontrolset > services

    Hope this helps
