I want to pass on a couple of tips for those future dba's preparing for the B&R exam and to thank those who tipped me on preparing with Sybex.
I am using the Sybex study guide, a full version of 8i and the Oracle documentation set for my training.
I passed with 77% ... I thought I would score higher as I was not having a problem with the Sybex practice tests, but in reality the exam questions were a lot tougher.
I found the Oracle documentation critical for preparing for this test. Specifically the sections on RMAN and Standalone databases.
If anyone has some tips on the Performance Tuning I would appreciate it.
Regards,
Gee

91% for 1Z0-001 and 71% for A&A.
I found the 1Z0-001 quite easy ... I started developing apps with databases in the mid 80's with VAX/RDB and then the last 10 years with MS SQL Server, so a lot of the concepts dealing with relation databases were quite familiar to me. I also have a strong background in programming dating back to 1981.
I found the A&A exam quite difficult ... If I had to do it again, I would have spent more time with the Oracle documentation.
The company I work for is switching to new apps all running Oracle, so I have a real opportunity to apply my new found knowledge ... also the city I work in is a government town where Oracle databases are the law of the land, so a little job insurance won't hurt either.
I love learning/working with different technologies and I look forward to all that Oracle offers (including the OCP developer track).

I passed it yesterday. Got 44/57, questions were a little tricky and in some cases u can bet two are correct! But one has to provide the best answer.
Know thoroughly the functionality provided by V$ views.
I got a couple of questions on the file generated when Oracle detects a deadlock.
All the best

I've noticed that many Oracle DBAs talk about V$ views. This is a very small thing but V$ are not views, they are synonyms for the V_$ views :-)

Thanks for correcting me Julian
