UTL_FILE_DIR INIT.ORA PARAMETER EXECUTION

Hi all!

I have a query:

1.Is it safe to rely on Export and Import Backups for recovery in case something goes wrong or should I go for Hot and cold one.We are in the development stage.

2.What are the steps to attach a File to UTL_FILE_DIR so that after executing the package UTL_FILE_DIR should read the attached file and store the output to another file.Is this possible.

Well,

you can do with export/import as approach to have realiable backup and recover data. You would still need a skeletal DB to do the import (FYI).

Once the paramter (utl_file_dir) is set, utl_file package can be used to read and write to that directory only.
