Thread: Standby Database.........

    Hi

    If anybody can tell me more about standby database and clone database and whazzz the use of these...And one more thing is when a condition is occurring where you have to shutdown force.

    This is the general idea of standby databases.

    Standby config consists of a primary and a standby.

    The primary is, well, the primary. The standby is almost a copy of the primary, but not quite. Each time the primary generates a new archive redo log, it is sent to the standby and applied.

    The standby database is in perpetual recovery.

    When the primary fails, the last archive log is applied and the standby becomes the primary.

    These are basic ideas. Refer to the manual for more info.
