Thread: adding 2nd target to rman

    i have 1 target and 1 rman database on same machine. i have 2 other database which i was to setup hot backups for. anybody have any ideas on how i can set up 1 rman database to hot backup 3 databases?

    My personal take would be to create different catalog for every database. You can have this catalog under the same instance, and would also prefer to have them in a different table space. That way, the maintenance would become easy, migration would also be easier.

    Yep, follow Sam's advice. Make 3 users RMAN_DB1, RMAN_DB2 & RMAN_DB3, each with a 20-50M tablespace. Things that way would be much easier.
