Hi all.
Our platform :
Compaq proliant 7000 , PentiumII zeon 500MH(4cpu)
8GB memory. Windows 2000 Advanced server.
Oracle8.1.6.0.0 EE.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Microsoft is providing PAE support in the Windows 2000 kernel. "
" Microsoft's implementation of PAE allows the operating system kernel to automatically take full advantage of all available physical memory, including memory above 4 GB (up to 64 GB in Datacenter and 8GB in advanced server) for existing applications. "
"Microsoft has implemented a new application programming interface (API), called Address Windowing Extensions (AWE), which will enable software developers to take fuller advantage of PAE. "
Microsoft documents.

Can anybody tell me , does oracle8i use AWE for win2000 servers(for PAE support) and how?

Oracle 8i (8.1.7 EE) supports more than 4GB SGA on Windows 2000.
For more details read the Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition Release Notes for Windows 2000.
