    HAi,

I create the database on personal oracle version 8.1.6 on win NT .With my own storage specifications.

After that I shutdown the Windows NT system. With out shutdown the database. After a while I start the windows system. Then I saw that database not in open stage. But I keep the instance in auto and also Lisner in auto.

    Please help me.

Go to registry (regedit). Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE/HOMEO you can see an entry ORA_*_AUTOSTART. Set the value to TRUE. If you have installed the sample database, you will see the same kind of entry for that in the registry.

    Regards

Go to your services and set the appropriate oracle parameters to automatic, inclusing the listeners and etc.

Also make sure that your pfile is properly specified in the same registry location. Oracle 8.1.6 has a bug where it creates the service for the instance and gets the path to the pfile wrong. Hence Oracle does not automatically start when you boot the system.
