Not low tech, but very limiting in what you can do. At least it was the last time that I looked at it in that it only supported a subset of the VBA engine. Made more sense to me to use something like the full fledged VB language to write applications. As a developer, I hate limitations. ;)

It is good for quick prototyping of database applications. And if it can do what you need, then there's no problem using Access for a front end. Just please don't use it as a database. ;)
