    Wink

Your redo logs are not big enough. Drop each logfile group in turn and then recreate them. You cannot drop the active redo log., so you may have to use alter system switch logfile to switch manually. Use alter database add logfile '............' size xxxM to add the new file file. ps after you drop the logfile rename it to .sav using your OS.

No, your database just "hangs" until it can complete the checkpoint. You will not get corrupt logs, just lousy performance.

since the log had only 1 group and no members, Would it help if I add the new member in there without making the redo log bigger ???

1 group and no members? I don't see how that is possible. Anyway, you could add more log groups to help alleviate this problem as a stop-gap measure. You will still have inadequate redo-logs, it will just take longer to get the CNC error...

    Misinterpretation again

Each log group allways have at least one member...
