The 7->8 upgrade was 1 exam. The 8->8i was 1 exam. I am hoping it is 1 exam as well.

    Hi

Oracle says you will be ahead of the crowd and that sure is the incentive and bright future prospects off course. Beta exams take a very long time they say the duration of each exam might be approx 3 hours I think we should have real patience to take up any of these exams

Absolutely right. Plus, you have to wait for days, if not weeks, to get your results.

Above all, it doesn't sound very serious that someone can call himslef professional (forget certified) about a product just being released on the market.

I believe that cerification should be the last step of your Oracle education, training, work experience, etc. At least, most people in Europe think this way. I don't know about the States. Jeff, what's your opinion on that?

Note that now the Core Path consists of only 4 exams, not five as in 8i.

Exam #1Z1-007 Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL
    Exam #1Z1-031 Oracle9i Database: Fundamentals I
Exam #1Z1-032 Oracle9i Database: Fundamentals II
Exam #1Z1-033 Oracle9i Database: Performance Tuning

For those with an 8i degree, in order to upgrade, you need to pass exam #1Z1-030 Oracle9i Database: New Features for Administrators:

Upgrade Path If you are an OCP on Oracle7.3, you will be required to pass the following 3 exams to upgrade your OCP credential to Oracle9i. Oracle8 OCPs should complete exam #1Z0-020 and 1Z1-030.
Exam #1Z0-010 Oracle8: New Features for Administrators
Exam #1Z0-020 Oracle8i: New Features for Administrators
Exam #1Z1-030 Oracle9i Database: New Features for Administrators

    Angry Need Advice

    Hi Everyone..

Just read about 9i exam. I would like to be an
OCP and over the last month, have studied SQL/PLSQL.

I am in the next two weeks about teh do the exam and now I find that there is a beta exam for SQL/PLSQL for 9i. It also
    as a different code 1z00-007.

I am now unsure what I need to do. Do I continue and
try to get the 8i OCP and then upgrade or would you advise
me to do the beta exam.

I don't mind doing the 8i exam since there are resources
available on the net and people who would support you like in this forum.

    Please advise me.

    Best Regards
