    Hi all,

Is it possible for me to get a script which will email me if there is any message/error message in the alert log and any script which will help me monitor the live database. We're using win2000 and 98 machines.
I'd really appreciate all the help I can get.

    Thanks a lot

    pst.

I think you can use UTLBSTAT and UTLESTAT scripts to monitor the database.

There are other scripts out there as well including some at the link to your left titled Oracle Scripts.

To e-mail yourself if an error appears in the alert log - I'm not sure, our company wrote one but it was on UNIX and unix scripting is somewhat different I think.

MKS Toolkit is great for porting your shell scripts and run them in NT

As for monitoring scripts check the oracle scripts section

A shell script will be fine. i just want to get an idea of how to do it. Maybe I can convert it to perl or something.

I don't have the script here because i am not on site today or all this week.

I'm pretty sure the guys found all the info they needed from a small book though .

I think it would be possible to find a script on-line somewhere that does what you need.

normally, when on Unix, I just use a .cmd/.bat file on the NT frontend which FTPs the monitoring files to my desktop. Our Unix box doesn't allow any email out so this is another solution. With FTP, you could send your alert-logs, monitoring files, and anything else to specific folders on your desktop if you wanted (which can be helpful).

    Why not using OEM???

It will monitor your databases and will email you the warnings and errors.

    Hey Pst -

take a look at EZSQL. http://www.ezsql.net.

One of the things it has is a db health report (very configurable) that can be run from a command prompt or
within the EZSQL GUI. It can send you email when a variety
of conditions exist in the database. It doesn't check the
    alert log though.
