    Unhappy

    Hello !!

I'm facing a strange problem. I get the above mentioned error as soon as
I try connecting to the 8i database using Pro*C. I'm running the code on the
server itself. The o/s is Windows NT. The error doesn't come when I connect sqlplus.

I checked the NLS parameters using DBA Studio and found
    NLS_LANGUAGE is set to AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY is set to AMERICA

Should I try installing Oracle afresh.

    Thanks.

    Regards
    Shruti

    Hi,
When getting an ORA-12705 error on a PROC application check the registry settings for a 32-bit program or the ORACLE.INI if it is a 16-bit program. As a quick fix you can simply delete the NLS_LANG parameter is they are using the default, (AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1).
The ultimate solution is to re-install everything as this is caused by some
    component version conflict between:
    A) the product
    B) the Required Support Files
    C) SQL*net

    Wink Thanks!!!

    Thanks Rohit,

It worked, I checked the registry anf Found
    NLS_LANG was set to NA
I modified it to AMERICAN and the application worked.
Is this some kind of Oracle Bug??

    Regards
    Shruti
