Thread: defunct processes on unix

    Has anyone experienced defunct processes that were spawned from their oracle processes on a Unix machine? If so, why are they are and is there anything that can be done to get rid of them? We have this happen pretty often. We are running 8.1.7 on AIX 4.3.

    I have experienced zombie processes after a connection has been lost (for example violent shutdown of SQL*Plus on the client box), you can try to kill -9 these processes, nevertheless I saw some of them staying even after a kill -9, so ...
