Hi!
Kindly let me know what is the significance of the following statement:
"MULTIPLEX CONTROL FILES,ON-LINE REDO LOG FILES IN DEFFERENT DRIVES TO AVOID I/O FRAGMENTATION"
Not Multiplexing or not Mirroring of the control Files, On-line Redo Log files causes some kind of I/O Fragmentation problems! Is this true! Kindly explain!
What is the difference between Multiplexing and Mirroring.
Could this statement be found out in any of the Oracle Books,Docs, etc. If yes,Pease do recommend!
Regards,
Amitstora.

Good Morning; To the best of my knowledge multiplex and mirror are the same thing. Mutiplexing you files is just plain good DBA practice, if one crashes or becomes corrupt you are going to want a copy right? This is why you have multiple copies. I don't see how multiplexing would reduce fragmentation.
