After upgrading from 816 to 817, users could not accessable database dictionary any more. What went wrong?

Did you run catalog.sql and catproc.sql after the upgrade?

Login as sysdba and run the scripts mentioned above. You'll find them in oracle_home/rdbms/admin/ directory.

    Thank you for the reply!

After upgrading, I applied patch 81711, then ran catlog.sql and catproc.sql. Then I applied patch 81715 again, but I did not ran catlog.sql, catproc.sql. Because in readme file, there is no such requirement.

Do your guys think this is the only possibility?

    Thanks again!

you should also see if system can view the v$views.

system can not see dba_objects. The database is in the shutdown process, so I can not check if system can see v$view. What difference would that make?

    Thanks!
