Installing client on NETWORK & using it to connect

Hi All,

I want to install the client on network DRIVE, so that, I can use the same TNSNAMES to connect from all client machines. I tried doing it by installing from one machine. It is working fine. But when I am trying to connect through other machines it is not working.

Do I need to change the path to the net work drive. I did so. But still same problem.

Please advise me.

Why not just copy the TNSNAMES file to all the client machines, or better yet put it on the LAN so it is easily accesable to all workstations. This way they can copy it down from the LAN (server).

My Problem is not that. I have a situation that, I need to change the SERVER name in TNSNAMES but the Alias name should be the same.


So I want to make every one to use the same TNSNAMES located centrally at one place so that, I need to change at only one location rather than changing at different locations.

Why dont use Oracle Names server for the above that would solve ur problem
