At svrmgr prompt, when I am connecting as internal. I get the message "Connected". Then, when any select is given system throws the error ORA-01012.

The oracle document suggests the following action.

Action: Log on to Oracle, by calling OLON or OLOGON, before issuing any Oracle calls. When the instance has been restarted, retry the action.

    Please let me know,

How I can log on to Oracle by calling OLON or OLOGON.

    OS : NT, ORACLE 8.0.5.2.1

    Thanks in Advance.

i think stopping all the services and restarting the instance will solve the problem.

This may not be relevant to you as you have allready re-started that database.
See if the database was shutdown correctly and started properly and that you can see DATABASE OPEN in the alert log.
If you cannot see this, do a shutdown abort and do a startup again!
