    Question

    My Oracle client on Win98 can't connect to our Oracle db -- getting message "ORA-12203: TNS: unable to connect to destination" from the app. Was advised to (1) ping the server from my client, which worked fine, and (2) go to the Unix server and run svrmgr1. This is the message that I got back:

    $ ./svrmgrl

    Oracle Server Manager Release 2.3.4.0.0 - Production

    Message 4505 not found; No message file for product=SVRMGR, facility=MGR

    Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03113

    Any suggestions?
    Curt

    It looks like you moved some files from rdbms (rdbms80 on NT)?

    Hi,
    The problem is simple. Just cross check the following.
    1. Just check if your listener is started & working well
    2. Check the parameter ORACLE_SID is set to the correct SID

    Looks like a environment problem, check your ORACLE_HOME and your LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the correct entries.

    check you oracle_sid and oracle_home is correct or make sure you explicitly export that oracle_sid vriable and the version of database you trying to connect to should be equal to the database whose sid you have set. so the sid value and svrmgrl exe should come from the same oracle home
    Best Regards,
