    Hi Gurus,
What qualifies a distributed database system? Is it just the existence of database links?
Is there any specific parameter that separates a standalone database from a distributed system other than TNS?

    Thanks

Database links/TNS settings are not only the components of a ditributed system. Data or part of data (of a particular database) availability in two different locations on physically/geographically/logically seperated databases...

Above explaination is more pratical sence not theorical sense.
Exact definition ( say docs definition) is not on top of head. Others might help you, if you do want exact definition.
