Urgent, IMP-00009, abnormal end of file

Hi everyone,

I am trying to import into 8.1.7 the export file from oracle 7.3 and it runs into an error IMP-00009 abnormal end of file.
Is it becuase of the different version of oracle
or there could be problem with the export file itself.

I would really appreciate your help.

The dmp file corrupted for some reason

goto Oracles' metalink and click on technical libraries from there click on Oracle server and it will give some white papers on imp/exp between databases.

I'm glad I can share my Revelanet with all of you;

IMP-00009 abnormal end of export file

Cause: The export file is probably from an aborted Export session.

Action: If so, retry the export and import. Otherwise, report this as an Import bug and submit the export file that caused this error to Oracle Customer Support.


You can actually get this info from oracle's web page, just search on it.

Thanks everyone for help.

I have asked the client to send another file. I tried to find the information on metalink, as you have suggested, it could be due to corruption or abonormal export.

But for sending export back to oracle7.3, i would have to run CATEXP7.sql in 8i database. I hope it works.
