    Hello

    I will be migrating from Migration from Oracle 7.3.4.0 to 8.1.7.0 . The OS is Aix . Any place where I can get help step by step help would be ideal ...... Any help appreciated ........

    For such a big step, the easiest way is probably to export your database with a full export (make sure nobody is connected so you get nice clean data), then create your 817 environment, then create your tablespaces in 817, then run the import.

    A lot depends on the size of the database. If it is small (<40G), then you can use the export/import method.

    However, if your database is large (>40G), I would suggest using the migration assistant (odma). The migration assistant is a GUI that will guide you through all the steps you need to perform this migration with a few clicks of your mouse.
